David Orr
Principal
David joined Focus for Democracy to develop and implement a strategy to maximize the network's growth and impact for the 2024 election cycle. He works across all areas of F4D to maintain a unified strategy.
For the last decade, David has co-managed a private investment business. Until joining F4D full-time, he also worked in Hospice care and lectured and taught on the ethics of end-of-life medicine.
David is a longtime political and social activist and has dedicated himself to service to the community. He chairs the board of Chances for Children NY, a community mental health organization in the Bronx. He is the founding chairman of the graduate board of Phillips Brooks House Association at Harvard University, the nation’s preeminent student-led public service organization. David serves on the board of the Quad Preparatory School, a leader in 2E education. He previously served as chairman of the board of All Star Code, a youth development organization providing computer science education to young men of color, and as a board member of the Bank Street College of Education.
David graduated from Harvard University with an AB, Magna cum Laude, in Social Studies. He then studied religious and theological ethics at Columbia University and Union Theological Seminary, completing his Mdiv and PhD. He lives in New York City with his husband and two children.
