Liza Finkelstein
Co-founder and Principal

Liza serves as F4D’s Chief Connector. She is passionate about bringing people together to do important work, and the Focus for Democracy network was born out of her drive to share Aaron’s 2020 electoral analysis with her own friends and family.  Liza is the muscle behind the explosive growth of the Focus for Democracy network. She has served as the primary point person for our network since its first local event with 100 people in 2019, until now, with well over 10,000 participants who contribute from across the country.

Liza is an educator, organizer, and financial activist. Her formative professional years were spent teaching ESL and literacy intervention in San Francisco’s Hunter’s Point. She has continued to work toward high-quality, equitable education for all by serving on the advisory board of New Leaders and is the co-founder of FULCRUM, an Oakland-based education non-profit. She completed the Just Economy Institute fellowship in 2021 and continually works to align all her activities with her mission to serve in making the world a place where all can live viable, fulfilling lives.

Liza attended the University of Michigan Ann-Arbor and got her teaching credential from the University of San Francisco. She is the proud mother of two teenagers and lives in Berkeley, California.
